Junior’s Code of Conduct

All Saints Hunters Hill FC promotes football as a fun and enjoyable sport for everyone to enjoy. We have core values that we expect all players and parents to adhere to whether playing, coaching, officiating or spectating. Not adhering to this code could lead to a player having their membership revoked.

Players – you agree to:

  • Play by the rules.
  • Listen to your coach.
  • Accept coaches’ and referees’ decisions.
  • Work hard for yourself and your team.
  • Play fair, and be a good sport.
  • Treat all participants in your sport as you like to be treated (your own team and opponents).
  • Wear the right gear.
  • Have a good time!

You agree that the following is not OK:

  • Arguing with a coach or official.
  • Arguing, abusing or sledging other players or parents (your team or opponents)
  • Hurting/wrestling/bullying other players.
  • Losing your temper.

Parents & family of players – You agree to:

  • Focus on your child’s efforts and performance, rather than winning or losing.
  • Encourage children to participate; do not force them.
  • Encourage children to play according to the rules and best sporting practice.
  • Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
  • Remember that children learn by example.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every participant.
  • Promote teamwork.
  • Help make coming to training a positive experience.
  • Help your children learn their responsibility to be on time for training and games, and remember their equipment (ball to training, shinpads etc.).
  • Respect officials’ and coaches’ decisions and teach children to do likewise.
  • Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them your child would not participate.

You agree that the following is not OK:

  • Ridiculing or yelling at any player (your own or other).
  • Giving instructions or calling out from the sidelines.
  • Interrupting the coach or interfering with coach’s decision.
  • Abusing/arguing with coaches, players or parents.
  • Exhibiting poor sportsmanship.
  • Putting pressure on players.

Coaches – You agree to:

  • Remember that children participate for pleasure, and that winning is only part of the fun.
  • Operate within the rules and spirit of the sport.
  • Remember that all players are deserving of equal attention.
  • Avoid overplaying the talented players just to win.
  • Show concern and caution toward sick or injured players.
  • Attend relevant training sessions held by the Club for coaches.
  • Communicate clearly and upfront with team members and parents regarding your expected codes of behaviour and participation, including disciplinary measures for breaches of best conduct.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every participant.
  • Refrain from any physical contact with the players unless it would be appropriate in the situation and necessary for the player’s skill development.
  • Display control and professionalism to all involved with the sport.
  • Refrain from arguing with the referee and/or assistant referees regarding decisions they make.
  • Make a commitment to improve your own knowledge of the game through coach education and various training programs.
  • Encourage your team to play within the laws of the game.

You agree that the following is not OK:

  • Ridicule or yell at a player for making a mistake or not winning.
  • Any form of harassment towards players or spectators.
  • Use of crude, foul or abusive language, or engage in any conduct detrimental to the image of the game when on or off the field.

Officials – You agree to:

  • Know the rules.
  • Be consistent, objective and courteous when making decisions.
  • Promote respect for (and by) all participants.
  • Be a good sport yourself.
  • Remember you set an example. Be positive and supportive.
  • Place the safety and welfare of all participants above all else.
  • Ensure the rules, equipment, length of games and training schedules suit the age, ability and maturity level of players.
  • Give all young people a “fair go” regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Senior’s Code of Conduct

  • Accept the decisions of officials including coaches and referees.
  • Work hard for yourself and for your team.
  • Play fair and in the spirit of good sportsmanship at all times.
  • Treat all participants as you would like to be treated.  This applies to your opponents and members of your own team.
  • Wear the right gear at training and matches.

You agree that the following is not acceptable:

  • Breaching the rules of the game.
  • Behaving in a manner at either training or a match, which could bring either yourself, your team or the Club into disrepute.
  • Arguing with a coach or official.
  • Arguing with, abusing or sledging other players; whether on your own team or that of your opponent.
  • Hurting, wrestling, fighting or intimidating other players.
  • Displaying openly hostile or offensive behaviour – either at training or in a match – towards others.

Supporters of Players Including Family and Friends – You agree to:

  • Behave in accordance with our Code of Conduct.
  • Encourage players to play in accordance with the rules and best sporting practice.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every participant.
  • Promote teamwork.
  • Respect the decisions of officials and coaches.
  • Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them the sport could not exist.

You agree that the following is not acceptable:

  • Ridiculing or yelling at any player.

Coaches – You agree to:

  • Operate within the rules and spirit of the sport.

  • Avoid overplaying the talented players just to win.
  • Show concern and caution toward sick or injured players.
  • Attend relevant training sessions held by the Club for coaches.
  • Communicate clearly and upfront with team members regarding your expectations including standards of behaviour, participation and disciplinary measures for breaches of best conduct.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every participant.
  • Refrain from any physical contact with the players.  Should it be deemed necessary, any contact must be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player’s skill development.
  • Display control and professionalism to all involved with the sport.
  • Refrain from arguing with the referee and/or assistant referees regarding decisions they make.
  • Make a commitment to improve your own knowledge of the game through coach education and various training programs.
  • Encourage your team to play within the laws of the game.

You agree that the following is not acceptable:

Breaches

Breaches of the Code of Conduct should be dealt with as follows:

  • Report the breach to the President or Club Secretary – contact details can be found at https://staging.ashhfc.com.au/wp-admin/post.php?post=47&action=edit
  • The Committee will consider the report and, depending on the nature of the breach, will either just note it in its minutes or draft a formal warning letter
  • A repeated breach after a warning letter has been issued will result in a formal meeting with ASHHFC officials and possible suspension or expulsion from the club

In addition, racial vilification is unlawful and can have further consequences.
